The 2015 R.F. Bunshah Award Recipient is Péter B. Barna, professor emeritus of MFA. Peter B. Barna, the 2015 ICMCTF laureate, is recognized for "pioneering contributions to the understanding of nanostructural evolution during thin film nucleation and growth based upon in-situ UHV TEM video imaging."

Attila Szolnoki among Outstanding Referees of APS

Attila Szolnoki, DSc of the Complex System Department of MFA has been recognized as the Outstanding Referee of the Physical Review journals, as chosen by the journal editors for 2015.

MFA merges into Centre for Energy Research

According to the decision of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences MFA belongs to a new research centre from January 1, 2015.

Our new official name is:

Institute of Technical Physics and Materials Science (MFA), Centre for Energy Research, Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Doctor Honoris Causa

József Gyulai, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and former director of MFA, has been awarded the Gyulai József átveszi díszdoktori címét a Pannon EgyetemenDoctor Honoris Causa title by the Univesity of Pannonia.

He received the award as part of the "Hungarian Science Festival" in Veszprém, 6th November 2014.

MFA's Professor László P. Biró joins the Graphene Flagship project

To coincide with Graphene Week2014, the Graphene Flagshipis proud to announce that today one of the largest-ever European research initiatives is doubling in size. 66 new partners are being invited to join the consortium following the results of a €9 million competitive call. While most partners are universities and research institutes, the share of companies, mainly SMEs, involved is increasing. This shows the growing interest of economic actors in graphene.
