SUMMARY:EUROMAT 2021 konferencia
DESCRIPTION:This symposium aims to give a brief overview of characterization techniques of 1D\, 2D\nmaterials\, 1D/2D heterostructures\, various ceramics and their composites. The multi-scale\ncharacterization from the atomic to nanoscale dimensions is of great interest as it is\nbecoming more important in understanding the synthesis and performance of 1D/2D\nmaterials including nanotubes\, nanowires\, nanorods\, graphene family materials\, transition\nmetal dichalcogenides (TMDs)\, transitional metal carbides and carbonitrides (MXenes) as\nwell as advanced ceramic and their composites.\nThe synthetic route of nanomaterials often determines the shape and size of the\nnanostructures\, consequently the properties of those materials are affected. Because of the\nneed of manufacture and scale up production of nanomaterials\, the development of in-situ\ncharacterization techniques for 1D/2D materials is essential\, in order to provide direct\nfeedback for process control especially during material growth. The fabrication of hybrid\nnanomaterials consisting of 1D and 2D heterostructures has led to the development of\nnovel applications such as Circuits transistors\, Optoelectronic Devices\, Memory Devices\,\nSensors\, Energy Harvesting and Storage Devices. While structural characterization is\nimportant\, 1D/ 2D heterostructures exhibit a large number of novel properties such as\nmagnetism\, piezoelectrical\, electrical transport\, optical\, photonic properties and thermal\nconduction. As a result\, the challenges in characterization of 1D/2D heterostructures\nshould be addressed.\nRecent advances to understand\, control and design of advanced ceramics and composites\nat the nanoscale have been achieved\, but the long-term mechanical reliability remains a\ncritical issue for successful applications in different industrial areas. Ceramics and ceramic\nmatrix composites are candidates for many applications that involve high temperatures\,\nchemical reactivity or mechanical stresses. In recent years\, a number of oxide and non-oxide\nceramics have been investigated for use in harsh industrial environments. The materials of\ninterest comprise a wide range of ceramics including conventional oxide ceramics such as\nalumina and zirconia to more specialized compositions such as borides\, carbides\, and\nnitrides. The materials of interest can be monolithic\, single phase ceramics\, porous\nmaterials\, multi-phase particulate or 1D/2D nanoparticle reinforced ceramic matrices or\ncomposites. This symposium will provide advanced analytical and computational tools to\nestablish constitutive models for complex loading conditions\, in-situ studies and nondestructive\ntesting\, and newly alternative approaches for characterization of the 1D/2D\nmaterials\, advanced ceramics and composites. \nTargeted Topics\n-Advanced characterization methods at multiple length scales\n-Electron microscopy and high resolution imaging\n-Emerging characterization tools for 1D/2D materials\, ceramics and composites\n-Spectroscopic methods\, X-ray\, neutron\, synchrotron and electron diffraction\n-Magnetic\, piezoelectric\, electrical transport\, optical\, photonic properties and\nthermal conduction\n-Thermodynamic and kinetic studies\n-Mechanical testings at ambient or high temperatures\n-Joining of ceramic and composite parts\n-Ab-initio calculations and other predictive tools\n-Multiscale simulations and models
